The Two Senior Officers Instants Before the Attacker Got Stunned

A police sergeant that leaped to the help of a colleague who was ambushed by a knife attacker was granted the King's Commendation for Courage.

Sergeant Tim Ansell grappled with 27-year-old Jacob Brown following he placed a blade to the neck of his fellow officer Sgt Marc Foster.

Brown began the violence as the officers and their third officer, Police Constable Marcus Wolstencroft, were speaking to a motorist after a road collision in that location in July 2023.

Brown attacked with blade both Sergeant Ansell and Sergeant Foster prior to PC Wolstencroft stunned him with a Taser.

"Policeman attacked," the officer was heard to say over his radio.

Bodyworn and vehicle camera footage made public by the police department revealed Brown, that was clothed in black with a hood up, rush to Sergeant Foster from behind with a blade extended.

He collided with the policeman who stumbled and fell to the street, before Sergeant Ansell jumped in and tried to wrestle him to the pavement even though being multiple times hit with the knife.
